Start Your Master’s Sooner - Build Your Master's Into Your Bachelor's Degree
Get Ahead and Stay Ahead
The Accelerated Learning Pathways for High Achievement (ALPHA) allow undergraduate students to get ahead and stay ahead in their academic career. Similar to the high school to college Dual Enrollment program, undergraduate students can earn graduate-level credit while simultaneously completing their bachelor's degree. Being an ALPHA wolf maximizes time and minimizes cost so students can complete their academic journeys faster.
Through UWG’s ALPHA Wolf Pathways, students can earn up to 12 graduate credits that apply to both programs — saving time, reducing tuition, and getting a head start on their future.
Two Flexible Pathways to Align with your goals
The ALPHA Wolf Pathways make your education more flexible by letting you combine bachelor’s and master’s coursework.
There are two ways you can follow a Pathway:
Continue in Your Field
Continue your academic path in the same subject area.
Example:
-
B.S. in Computer Science → M.S. in Applied Computer Science
- BBA in Marketing → MBA
Branch into a New Field
Use your bachelor’s as a foundation to explore a new area.
Example:
-
B.A. in Psychology → M.S. in Applied Business Analytics
- B.A. in Philosophy → M.S. in Cybersecurity
Are you eligible?
You may qualify for an ALPHA Wolf Pathway if you have:
- Completed 75+ credit hours toward your bachelor’s
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at UWG
- Maintained a 3.2 GPA or higher
Some graduate programs may have additional requirements. If that is the case, we will guide you through the details.
Student Application Process
-
Check Your Eligibility – Confirm you meet ALPHA Wolf Pathway requirements above.
-
Contact the Graduate School – We will help you get the process started. If you have questions about the process or need help identifying your undergraduate or graduate program coordinators, we are here to help you.
-
Meet with Your Program Coordinators – Your undergraduate and graduate program coordinators will discuss your pathway and identify appropriate graduate-level courses that can be counted toward both degrees.
-
Submit Your Application – Complete the ALPHA Wolf application at apply.westga.edu.
-
Get Approved – Once accepted, the Graduate School will register you for your approved graduate-level courses for the recommended semester(s).
If you meet the GPA requirements for your program, once you finish your bachelor's degree, you will be fully admitted to your master’s program. Graduates of the ALPHA Wolf Pathways do not need to pay the application fee or submit a separate application for their master's program.
After You Graduate
When you complete your bachelor’s degree, the Graduate School will automatically review your record.
To qualify for automatic admission, you must:
- Earn at least a 3.2 GPA in your undergraduate coursework
- Earn a grade of B or higher in all ALPHA Wolf Pathway graduate courses
What Happens Next
If you meet the requirements, you will be automatically admitted into your master’s program. If you don’t meet the GPA requirement, you can still apply for admission through the regular graduate application process.
