Palo Alto Networks® GlobalProtect™ VPN

The University of West Georgia provides secure remote access to campus resources through the GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Employees receive wired-equivalent access by connecting through the secure portal:

employee.westga.edu

Access is restricted to University-owned computers. Personally owned devices cannot be used to connect to the portal.

Benefits

Using employee.westga.edu provides:

  • Secure, wired-equivalent access to campus resources
  • Enhanced security compliance with University standards
  • Streamlined access without request forms
  • Reliable and consistent connectivity performance

This Portal replaces the former Wired Equivalency VPN Access process.

System Requirements

To receive full wired-equivalent access, your University-owned device must meet the following requirements:

  • Ivanti installed with a full scan completed within the past 14 days
  • Device joined to the UWG domain
  • Operating system fully up to date with all required patches

Limited Access Behavior

Devices that do not meet these requirements will still connect to the VPN but will receive limited access.

Limited access includes essential connectivity, such as the ability to Remote Desktop into your campus workstation.

Transitioning to Full Access

Once the required security conditions are met, GlobalProtect will automatically grant full wired-equivalent access on your next connection.
