Dr. Jing-Chi “George” Chen is an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Richards College of Business at the University of West Georgia. He teaches Corporate Finance and Investment Analysis. His classes are hands-on, using Excel, Python, and Capital IQ to analyze real datasets and solve practice-oriented problems.
Dr. Chen’s primary research lies at the intersection of textual analysis and capital markets, with a complementary stream in market microstructure. He uses machine learning and large language models to quantify information in corporate disclosures, ESG reports, job postings, and social media. He also employs high-performance computing to study trading costs, market quality, and retail investor behavior in large trade-and-quote data.
